What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim / Chosen by Michele Mendez (CelebMix Editor)

“What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim is a new K-drama from 2018 that stars Park Seo-joon and Park Min-young. Throughout the series, we not only see the two main characters slowly fall in love, but also its supporting characters too. Each pairing is different and we get to see their relationships evolve through a series of hilarious events. I recommend the series for anyone who hasn’t watched a K-drama before or someone looking for their next drama to binge-watch.”

Super Drags / Chosen by Jonathan Currinn (CelebMix Editor)

“This is probably my most controversial decision, but I enjoyed watching Super Drags, to the extent where my partner and I laughed all the way through it whilst we binge watched it. It’s hyper-sexualised, with over-the-top humour and massively stereotypical; however, it’s about time we had an adult gay animation show, that we can mindlessly watch without thinking too much about. The Brazilian Netflix TV series was broadcast internationally via an English-dub which sees RuPaul’s Drag Race alumni Ginger Minj. Shangela, Willam, and Trixie Mattel as well as Rod Keller, voice characters with various outrageous plots alongside relatable side-plots – from being stood up for a date because the character doesn’t fit the idealised gay-body-type to family rejecting a character due to their sexuality, as well as a whole concept on gay conversion therapy. It’s a 100x more-adult and gay-version of The Powerpuff Girls, and I found it hilarious. Apparently, Netflix has cancelled the show, unsurprisingly due to the mixed reviews, although I would’ve loved a second season. This is one of those shows you need to mindlessly watch, without thinking too hard about it, there may be plot holes, a lot of vulgarity, and shocking sexual harassment scenes, but I’ve seen a lot worse in other popular adult animated TV shows, so much so that comedy allows them to get away with it, and that also works with this show. It’s comedy for an acquired taste, if the mixed reviews are anything to go by.”

Emma Willis: Delivering Babies / Chosen by Kelly McFarland (CelebMix Editor)

“This show was so beautiful. It wasn’t like other baby shows. Emma didn’t just present the show she actually worked in the hospital as a Maternity Care Assistant and learnt and trained on the job. It was a compelling and inspiring show.”

Friday Night Dinner (Series 5) / Chosen by Katrina Rees (CelebMix Editor)

“I do not know where I have been for the past few years but I have never watched Friday Night Dinner, at all, until 2018. However, once I started I just couldn’t stop and I binge watched all five series (including the fifth which was broadcast the same year) in a matter of days and I’ve since watched them all through again, at least six times, oops. Series five was just as hilarious and bonkers as the previous seasons, with my love for Tom Rosenthal growing even more. However, the final episode was absolutely devastating and I cried some real ugly tears – the writers are so mean!”

Big Brother (UK Series 19) / Chosen by Byaregal (CelebMix Writer)

“The last series on Channel 5 took me back to Big Brother’s golden olden days. With so many interesting characters and cunning twists it was unwatchable.”

Supernatural (Season 14) / Chosen by Mark Willis (CelebMix Writer)

“Saving people, hunting things, the family business. It’s incredible to think that Supernatural first hit TV screens back in 2005. Nearly 300 episodes later, the show is still going strong and venturing into new territories with its storylines. Without spoiling things for those who haven’t yet seen it, season 14 largely focuses on the threat of Michael. There’s new enemies, a new realm called The Empty and even the return of some familiar faces. The show may feature demons and Lucifer himself but it always particularly excels in its human storylines of unconditional love and companionship. Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, and Misha Collins are as brilliant as ever as Sam, Dean, and Castiel, respectively. Alexander Calvert also continues to be a great addition to the team as Jack. Carry on my wayward show!”

Killing Eve / Chosen by Ellie Nicholas (CelebMix Writer)

“Killing Eve is easily the best TV show I have watched in 2018. I was on the edge of my seat with each episode and binge-watched the whole show in a day. Jodie Comer and Sandra Oh portrayed Villanelle and Eve perfectly and proved that there is a market for female-led assassin programmes. I’m sure I’ll be here next year arguing too why series 2 was the best show of 2019!”

Alexa & Katie (Season 2) / Chosen by Sofia Esposito (CelebMix Writer)

“The second season was the continuation of Alexa and Katie as friends and her battle with cancer. I love how they showed that, through everything, they can stick together.”

RuPaul’s Drag Race (Season 10) / Chosen by Kay Simpson (CelebMix Writer)

“Mama Ru is back with a new set of beautiful queens. This game changing show continues to break down barriers of the LGBTQ+ community, as the viewer goes through the highs, lows, and all the shade of the queens. The best moments of the show, personally, are the lip sync for their lives as 2 queens must battle out to a popular song to stay in the game! We send our biggest congratulations to winner, Aquaria!”

This Is Us (Season 2) / Chosen by Lynn Macgillivray (CelebMix Writer)

“This TV show makes me so happy and breaks my heart at the same time with every single episode, I have no idea how it does it. It is such a well-written show with a fantastic cast (everyone from Milo Ventimiglia and Mandy Moore to all the young actors are flawless). I also love how the show manages to jump from different time periods so easily. Best TV show in a long, long time.”

Big Brother (US Season 20) / Chosen by Brittany Sims (CelebMix Writer)

“Obviously, Big Brother has been my guilty pleasure since it started. I hope to audition for it this year. Can’t wait for Celebrity BB.”

Barry / Chosen by Ashley Bulayo (CelebMix Writer)

“I watched this show due to popular demand AKA it was all over the award season nominee list! I only thought of Bill Hader as THE SNL guy but this show proves he’s much more than that. It’s a weird angle to a show but we’re in primetime television, people! Everything is weird. I cannot wait for season two!”

The X Factor (Series 15) / Chosen by Niki Smith (CelebMix Writer)

“2018 saw one of the biggest shake-ups of the judging panel ever, and although the world had reservations about Robbie Williams’ wife Ayda Field, she proved that she deserved her place on that panel with her wit, charm and eye for talent. We all were crazily in love with seeing Louis Tomlinson return to his X Factor roots, and created pure magic with the Boys category. Dalton Harris winning was just the icing on the cake! The whole series had me gripped.”

Brooklyn Nine-Nine (Season 5) / Chosen by Annemarie Cutruzzola (CelebMix Writer)

“Discovering Brooklyn Nine Nine may have been the best thing to happen to me in 2018, and the show was at its peak during season five, that aired in 2018. Aside from a few great standalone episodes like ‘The Box’ and ’99’, there were some amazing story arcs this season. There was Rosa coming out as bisexual, preparations for Jake and Amy’s wedding (I totally ship Peraltiago), and the squad coming together to free Jake and Rosa from prison. Not to mention this season included one of the best of the show’s iconic Halloween heist episodes. This show never fails to make me laugh and will go down as one of my all-time favourites.”

The Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina / Chosen by Nicola Craig (CelebMix Writer)

“When I was younger I used to love watching Sabrina The Teenage Witch, now I’m a little older this is the perfect way to fill the void. When I first got into the series I was a bit taken back by how dark it is in places but really found myself hooked on the storyline and how there’s always a positive after a negative. Kiernan Shipka playing Sabrina is exemplary in her role as are the rest of the cast which keep me going back and waiting for more. Luckily, there’s new episodes coming in April and as we recently told you Seasons three and four are on their way too!”

Derry Girls / Chosen by Toby Bryant (CelebMix Writer)

“The arrival of Derry Girls on Netflix late last month saw it storm to be my favourite show of 2018. It’s blunt, in your face comedy at its best. If you are Northern Irish, or just know someone who is, you’ll love it. The well judged play on traditional characteristics associated with the country are pulled off to perfection. Saoirse-Monica Jackson is a star.”

American Horror Story: Apocalypse / Chosen By Ashley Gale (CelebMix Writer)

“American Horror Story returns for another season and it doesn’t disappoint. There have been seasons that are better than others but Apocalypse is one of my favorite seasons since it brings past seasons into one.”

GLOW (Season 2) / Chosen by Dominic Beck (CelebMix Writer)

“Netflix’s GLOW reached a peak in 2018 with it’s second season premiering during the year. The series reflects on a fictional all-female wrestling circuit, Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling (GLOW when abbreviated). The series takes place in Los Angeles, California throughout the mid-80s. Some of the wrestling industry’s biggest names have given their approval of the series and how it perfectly captures the rise of female wrestling.”

Cloak & Dagger / Chosen by Azra (CelebMix Writer)

“Marvel never really disappoints me. Cloak & Dagger are two characters that I’ve always wanted to explore, so to speak, and this show was the perfect opportunity to do so. Sadly, it contains only ten episodes per season, but those ten were absolutely brilliant and well told. It always kept you guessing, and it dealt with some serious subjects.”

BoJack Horseman (Season 5) / Chosen by Georgia Brown (CelebMix Writer)

“BoJack Horseman is my favourite TV series of 2018 because of how it’s able to make me laugh and cry within 5 minutes of each other. It’s a very well written show that covers many serious topics for an adult, comedy, animated series. The fifth season shows BoJack trying to change his behaviour and how he thinks for the better, which we’ve seen him try to do before but this time might be different due to how his circumstances, how his world, has changed, and that’s something I think everyone can relate to.”

“I’m always on the look out for something a bit different so The Circle caught my attention straight away. Most of us spend a lot of time on social media and are aware people change part of there lives but to watch the decisions people took surrounding this was both eye opening and captivating especially around Alex’s progression pretending to be ‘Kate’.”

The Bold Type (Season 2) / Chosen by Evelin Mercedes (CelebMix Writer)

“The Bold Type is a great show! I love how they show what it’s like working for a magazine. It’s also filmed in NYC and I always hope I can bump into them while they’re filming. It’s real and shows the realities of trying to make it in NY. It’s definitely a show for the creative that wants to follow a career in fashion.”
