Keira Knightley covers the April issue of Interview magazine in grand dramatic style. The cover is a huge improvement over Interview’s March issue featuring Katy Perry as Liz Taylor, but that’s not saying much. Don’t get me wrong though — I think Keira looks impressively dramatic on this cover and gives good razor-blade cheekbones. Those lips are perfectly luscious as well, and the overall look of the shoot (what we’re seeing here, anyway) is very futuristic looking. Perhaps the theme was conceived with director David Cronenberg (who worked with Keira in A Dangerous Method, the movie where she somehow didn’t enjoy being spanked by Michael Fassbender) in mind, since he’s the one who conducts the interview. Unfortunately, there aren’t many excerpts yet, but here’s what’s been released thus far:
On separating actors from gossip: “I hate knowing too much when I’m going to the cinema. I don’t want to know that the actor has just gone through a divorce. I don’t want to know that the person is an alcoholic.”
On whether people separate her acting from her celebrity: “I think I’d be quite surprised if they could. I know with A Dangerous Method people liked the spanking an awful lot. But I’m not quite sure. It’s weird, though, with the spanking. When we were in Venice, I didn’t get asked about it once. But in England, it was pretty much the only thing I got asked about. I’m not quite sure what that says about the English.”

Eh. I see what she’s saying about separating the acting from the media persona, but I think that anyone who is truly serious about a comment like that would exclusively prefer theater as opposed to juggernaut blockbusters like the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. Still, I have to give Keira props for ducking out on that ridiculous fourth movie (unlike Johnny Depp, who is all about the stupid money at this point) and favoring indie flicks over the past couple of years. I still haven’t seen A Dangerous Method, but Kaiser tweeted about receiving the DVD a few days ago, so I guess she’ll be letting us know what she thought about The Spanking soon enough.
Back to this Interview photoshoot … I think I like it. It’s a different approach for Keira, and it’s a little bit too cartoonish and overstylized for my tastes, but that’s the theme of the shoot.
