Prison Break: Sequel begins tonight with a new story about notorious terrorist Abu Ramal (Numan Acar) being held in the Ogygia Prison in Yemen, the same prison Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) is in.
In the prison, after the guard does a cell check, Michael escapes through the ceiling. They realize the military strikes are getting closer to the prison, and the person they are working with on the outside didn’t give the signal so they must return to their cell.
Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell) and C-Note (Rockmond Dunbar) discuss the Kaniel Outis. He was thrown into prison for crimes against the government, and was in solitary until recently.
C-Note is confused why Michael (Kaniel) didn’t acknowledge them, they stop talking when they discover a young boy was listening to their conversation; Linc gives chase. Linc confirms he was spying on them, but C-Note hands him an origami swan with the message “Find the Sheik of light and I will be free”.
Linc says it is Michael’s handwriting and this is his way of reaching out to them. Everything is in code, C-Note suggest they ask Sheba (Inbar Lavi) for help. After Sheba was pleading with her father for them to get out of the country, Lincoln and C-Note arrive to talk to her.
She is furious with Linc believing he is working with Kaniel, a terrorist. He produces a stack of money to help her family escape in exchange for her help. He gives her Michael’s message.
Back in the US, Sara (Sarah Wayne Callies) drops off young Mike (Christian Michael Cooper) at school when her phone rings and its a video Linc sent her of Michael in the Yemen prison. Her son is hesitant to go to school, but she encourages him to have a great day.
She gets back in the car and immediately watches the video. She is shocked when he claims he isn’t Michael and has no idea who his brother is. Her husband, Jacob Ness (Mark Feuerstein) calls her questioning how everything happened.
He believes when he worked with the government on foreign policy that maybe he heard something he shouldn’t have. Sara tells him he is doped up on painkillers and thinking too much, she assures him she is sure it has nothing to do with him.
Sara goes to see Henry Kishida (Curtis Lum) from the States office. She had called about a missing American citizen in the Middle East. He walks with her explaining how unusual the circumstances are, since her husband, Michael has been declared dead and the person she is referring to goes by another name.
Her eyes go big when another man says he will take over from here, she turns and it is Calvin. She wants to know how she ended up with him again, and begins to walk away saying he’s lived so many lives she doesn’t know who he is. He asks her to come into his office so he can enlighten her on everything he knows, and once he says the name Kaniel Outis, she follows him.
He acknowledges their checkered past. He tells her that Kaniel Outis is a known terrorist, ties to ISIL and wanted in the killing of a CIA official. She says Michael is no killer, and he says turns his computer screen showing her Kaniel’s face.
She says they both know that is Michael, and he says Michael is just a memory and the official record says otherwise and its scary to think who is behind that and it would take a genius like Michael to change one man into another. He wants answers like she does; Sara walks off in frustration.
Outside the prison the strikes are getting very close, and Michael’s cell mate says they have a day or two before the shelling or ISIL gets them. Michael tells him the roof is happening, and every one of them is escaping.
Sheba says there is no such thing as a Sheik of Light, implying this is probably a code. She finds a piece of tape and removes it, finding numbers. She thinks it is a phone number belonging to Mohammad El Tunis (Waleed Zuaiter). They attempt to visit him at The Department of Electrical Works and are given an address book.
Sheba circles the address and wishes them luck saying she isn’t going to the suburbs which are a war zone right now. C-Note tells her she needs to get them past the checkpoint; Linc says she will get her money when she delivers the Sheik as per their agreement.
Sara’s phone rings and Calvin tells her to check out the footage of a cabin four years ago. Michael walks out of the cabin and then the deputy chief of the CIA walks out behind him, he is shot and killed and video shows Michael moving his dead body. Calvin says she can call Michael whatever she wants but he is a murderer.
Sara comes to visit Jacob at the hospital asking him for advice and clarity. She says it is about Michael.
Back in the prison, Michael’s cellmates argue as one pulls a knife on the other. He continues to joke about Queen and how ironic it is to be stuck in a prison in the Middle East and the biggest SOB is Korean. Michael says he is in withdrawal. The next day Michael tells Whip that he is his right-hand man, Whip scoffs him off.
Jacob says that Michael loved her, but he was different, he always had an agenda. He explains that everyone is a contingency to Michael. He keeps people in his life percolating until he could manipulate the relationship to his advantage. Jacob promises he isn’t judging but a schemer like that could spin off into madness, and the dance between good and evil is constant and winning becomes the most important thing.
Michael learns that the prison is going to release all those in solitary into general population, the worst of the worst. The man sitting beside him says he got 20 years for homosexuality but when Abu Ramal and his men are released, they won’t let him live 20 minutes.
Michael says he was responsible for killing the lights but his Sheik of Light didn’t come. He doesn’t know what happened to him, but maybe they can find another way. Michael wants a piece of gum to start the process of them escaping.
After he is called a liar, he says he is going to show him that just like the butterfly’s wings, this piece of gum is going to start a sequence of events that will finish on the other side of the world. He takes the gum and leaves.
In his cell, Michael unwraps the gum and asks for a battery. He starts a fire, heating up water and placing the scalding hot scarf on his head, when he can’t take the pain anymore the guards are called for him being sick.
Sheba brings Linc and C-Note to the border, ordering the men to let her do the talking. Linc offers him $500 for the guard to make sure they make it back safely. He tells them they have a death wish and let’s them through. Sheba is sad to see how ISIL destroyed the once beautiful city.
As they drive down the street, they see several bodies hanging and Sheba says Abu Ramal has only gotten more powerful since he was sentenced to prison. Linc says God help them if he ever gets out!
Again they are stopped but she knows the man, Yasser (Lee Majdoub). He asks her if she finally found God, she says not his god. He says they will take over the city, and it would be nice to make a good woman of her, forgive the devil in her. She says she will turn around, they can forgive and forget each other. He says, “Beauty is not easily forgotten.”
When something distracts the men, he leans in telling her to get the hell out of their territory. The men leave, but they have to hurry because they are lucky she wasn’t killed right there. Linc asks her why; she says maybe she will tell him one day.
The prison guards bring Michael to the infirmary but when he asks for a doctor because he is burning up, they tell him he should have thought of that when he supplied guns to them and assassinated good men. The guard scoffs when Michael says it was a misunderstanding. He whips Michael over and over and then throw him into a cell, another guard arrives giving Michael some medication and water.
Sheba stops the men from walking around the corner when she sees Ramal’s men outside the address. Linc says there is only one way to find out if the Sheik is inside. They climb onto the roof and enter from the door there, inside C-Note disarms Mohammad El Tunis; meanwhile outside the men get a phone call and begin to frantically search the area. C-Note realizes they may be stuck now.
The guards bring Michael back to his cell, he sits where the Korean who is withdrawing is laying. He offers him the pain medications he is hiding in his mouth for his cellphone and credit card information. He says he wants to order a pizza.
Linc says he can get access to the truck out back and he will cause a ruckus so the men chase after him. He shouts for them to go but El Tunis refuses to leave without his daughter; Linc promises to get her out and they finally leave.
Linc runs out and knocks the man out in the truck, honking the horn. He runs to the classroom telling the woman and child he is getting the out of there. On the roof, C-Note, Sheba and El Tunis run while Linc gets the women in the truck and races behind Sheba’s vehicle to the border.
Ramal’s men start shooting at them as they come near the border. Sheba keeps driving but puts her hand out the window with a white cloth begging them not to shoot. They shoot the gunmen instead, waving Sheba and Linc through the check point.
El Tunis is reunited with his family and Sheba smiles. Once settled, Linc wants to know why they want El Tunis so bad. He says that his family is too modern for this world. His daughter teaches girls and his son is in love with another man, he was given 20 years in prison.
El Tunis is upset that he was supposed to help his son over a week ago, but then everything happened with his daughter being abducted. Linc says there is still time for him to do it. He explains that he has to give them a sign 24 hours before he causes the blackout. C-Note says the city may not have 24-hours in it.
Sara outside the school talking to her friend, wondering if what they said about Michael is true. Her friend reassures her that they are there for her and she is a strong woman. She begins to panic when the teacher says all the kids have been released and Mike never came out.
She frantically screams for Mike and finds him holding a paper flower the pizza man gave him. She opens the flower and the message says, “Hide everyone, a storm is coming.”
Michael is in the prison yard, where his friend says when the rebels take over, they will kill all of them, the infidels the sinners, the foreigners; just then the lights go off twice and he is happy that someone has found his father.
Michael says the escape is on but they fear it may be too late as the guards are releasing the prisoners for Ramadan. Abu Ramal comes out and hugs Michael, asking him if he has found aw ay for them to escape. Michael tells him, “Tomorrow night!”
