Alaska born singer and songwriter Earl has released a cover of the hit song “One Dance”. As a jazz artist, the song choice comes as a surprise since it is originally performed by rapper Drake.
On covering the song, Earl says, “I chose One Dance because a song can set you free. The lyrics are really about the longing for togetherness and for everything to be alright. I think we are all feeling that right now.”
Earl’s rendition of the pop song is vastly different from the original, as it is a stripped back acoustic cover. The performance was recorded live at Wilton Way and will be featured on Earl’s upcoming album Tongue Tied, which is set to release on July 28th through BMG Records.
The set list for the album is as follows:
This past Sunday, Earl reached a career milestone, where she played on the acoustic stage at Glastonbury Festival. Later this summer, Earl and her band will also appear at the Cornbury Festival in Oxfordshire on July 8th and at On Blackheath in London on September 9th.
